What happened to small sharp tools?

I struggle to understand the appeal of the default LazyVim setup. I’m in (n)vim because I want to concentrate, and I feel like I’m looking at the terminal equivalent of the Windows 11 experience. Almost all of this should be off by default.

I know, I can disable it, and I should stop whining, but it feels like the opposite of the Unix and Vim philosophy of small, very, very sharp tools.
