Old notebooks

I have about 50 notebooks from the mid-90s to around 2020. Every evening, I’ve been picking one and going through it.

My biggest lesson from those early days is that being early is about as bad as being wrong.

In 1999, we created what is essentially a Slack platform (our version focused on asynchronous communication, which is still a better idea). The notebook I went through yesterday was the startup I worked on that implemented an indoor mapping system. In 2002… (WAAAY too early).

This one, started on December 11, 2001, has a note to myself that there is a supplemental digital file. Unfortunately, I have no memory of this Emacs diary file at all. And neither does my extensive digital files archive.

It’s been pretty fun going through this old stuff this week.
