Do kids still go to school?

My kids are grown, but everyone I know who has school-aged kids seems to have them out of school all the time.

It seems like just a few years ago, missing more than 10 days of school (as in Ferris Bueller) was frowned upon.

Much of it is travel sports, but I’m unsure when this transition occurred.
