Blog forward

My new workflow is to write on my blog and THEN copy it to social media.
I’m returning to what I’m calling “blog forward.”
My post engagement on X has gone from very good to almost nothing this week. Apparently, I’ve upset the algorithm (should we start referring to it as God?)..
I realized how unhealthy it is that I even care. Why am I seeking the “like” (it’s just a damn click) from relative strangers?
I want to use writing to organize my thoughts, and I’d rather have two close friends than a million shallow ones.
And no, I’ve been on the internet long enough to know that even as a paid X user, using the new “article” feature might benefit with clicks in the short term, but it’s a bad idea if you consider your writing important over decades.
And by important, I mean mostly for my own reading 20 years from now. I know you don’t care what I was thinking in 2007. But I do.
Ironically, I’ve been on Twitter/X since 2007, so I can read my posts from then on. Investing all this time and energy on a platform you don’t own as your primary online presence is a bad long-term strategy.
Anyway, if you see this, I hope you have an awesome Saturday!
