Today is Safari Day

I’ve been really frustrated with Firefox on my Mac.It’s been slow and crashing. Just for fun, I’m going to forget Firefox for today and work all day in Safari. There’s one word for it right off the bat:  FAST. I didn’t realize how slow Firefox on the Mac really is until I fired up Safari.  Yikes!

What kind of receiver are you?

Most of us a quite aware of the importance of giving. We here in the US are blessed with an over abundance of almost everything. We talk about giving and being generous all the time.

The real question for us is:

What kind of receiver are you?

Are you the kind of receiver who delights when someone takes the time and energy to do something for you?

OR

Are you the kind of receiver who thinks silently to yourself “it’s about time somebody did something for me”.

OR

Are you the kind of timid receiver who retorts with “not being worthy”or “I don’t need help”, thereby denying the giver of the pleasure and benefit of giving of themselves?

Food for thought on this Labor Day.

Posting to be cool

This list is currently showing in my Facebook feed. I buy “Harry Potter”, “the Bible”, and maybe even “1984”, but who puts “To Kill a Mockingbird” and “Catcher in the Rye” in a favorite books list?

I thought for a second that maybe there are just a ton of high school English teachers who answered that poll.

When have you ever been with a group of people who went on and on about “To Kill a Mockingbird” or “Catcher In the Rye”?

Most people who went to High School in the US in the last 30 years read these books, but are they REALLY your favorite or are you just trying to look smart?

Switching back to blogger

I woke up this morning with another problem with the Mephisto blogging system that this blog runs on. Imapenguin’s blog is on typo, which I love, but I took a chance with Mephisto for this one.

The developers stopped working on it last year, and I’ve been frustrated with it for a while.

I’m switching back to blogger, and going to painstakingly repost everything here.

It will still be at http://www.michaeldoornbos.com, but you’ll have to resubscribe to the RSS feed 😦

Thanks for your patience. I plan on making the switch today.
